These cards are named for a disreputable psychic who told fortunes in New York in the late 1850s. She had a very colorful life, and was arrested many times for defrauding her clients. Since her name was well known the publishers decided to link her name to these the Lenormand cards that were enjoying widespread popularity in Europe.

The cards are elegantly detailed line drawings with playing card inserts. The directions that originally accompanied the original deck are identical to the Philippe LeNormand page that accompanied all the Lenormand decks from the mid-1800s through the 1950s, and perhaps beyond.

The difference was the introduction on the instruction booklet that reads,

"Madam Morrow, whose name is so well known, well merited her success as a fortune-teller. Whether this success must be attributed to the fact she was the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter, such persons always possessing it is said rare powers of divination, or to her being a close student of the methods of the great Madam Lenormand who foretold the grandeur of Napoleon I. and his empire, as well as the downfall of many of the nobility of France, is a question we are unable to decide."

The originals came with a plain pale blue back. This restoration carries a lovely back design from the 1800s.

The cards are made for people who plan to use their cards often. They are printed on modern day, casino grade card stock (black core, 320 gsm) that can be riffle shuffled and feels wonderful in hand and come in a tuck box. Card size: 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" .

The decks will be specially ordered just for you and mailed in 3-4 weeks, although probably sooner.
