The Daveluy is probably the oldest one, from around 1848. The images from the McLoughlin's Mystic Cards of Fortune are from about the same time period but were published later, around the 1880s.

In this mini version of the Alte Deutsch deck, published in 1875, the cards are otherwise identical to the full size ones except that they were made with jokers in place of the playing card aces. The publishers did this in order to circumvent the taxes levied on playing cards at the time. Since the cards had no aces they presumably couldn't be used for regular card games and thus they were not taxable! The Gentleman's card has a "signet" of the satirical magazine of the time, "Kladderadatsch."
