Born in 1634 Giuseppe Maria Mitelli was an Italian engraver and painter. Around 1660 he was engaged to create a tarrochini deck for a Bolognese family.

Only a few of the majors are numbered and many are easily recognizable for Tarot readers while the entire deck is readable in general.

Tarrochini is a card game similar to tarot but is made up of 62 cards rather than tarot's typical 78; 20 major trumps and four familiar tarot suits, Deniers, Cups, Swords and Rods. In this deck the pips only contain the Ace, plus the 6 through 10 pips, omitting the 2, 3, 4, and 5.

His early decks contained 4 popes in the major arcana but when it was republished in 1725 after his death, the decks were issued with four Moors in place of the Popes. This deck contains the four Moors. His self portrait appears on the ace of Deniers.

The cards are made for people who plan to use their cards often. They are printed on modern day, casino grade card stock (black core, 320 gsm) that can be riffle shuffled and feels wonderful in hand, and come in a tuck box. Standard tarot card size, 2-3/4" x 4-3/4"

Each deck is specially ordered just for you and mailed directly from the printer. You should receive it in 3-4 weeks although probably sooner.
