From Sumada's private collection, this Schaffhouse tarot was a design by Joseph Henri Rochias around 1860; on the IV Deniers you'll find his initials. This deck was published in Switzerland around 1890 by J. Muller & Cie, The colors used in this Schaffhouse distinguish it from the typical Marseille tarots -- not only the usual red, yellow and green but it's wildly different to see the addition of purple, magenta, aqua and bright orange. Some of the details appear to be borrowed from the early Burdel tarot.

And the Chariot is mis-numbered -- I decided to leave it unchanged, original -- and carries number VIII instead of VII.

Also available in a pocket size.
